A funny thing is happening on Wikipedia. A while back, for an experiment in tracking how often Google updated its results with data from Wikipedia, I created a wikipedia page for myself on the site. I then promptly forgot about it until edits starting popping up in my RSS aggregator. Turns out the page is up for deletion and debate has ensued as to whether I should be deleted or not. That seriously hurts my ego! So, without further ado, I’d like to ask gentle readers to head to Wikipedia and put in your vote (login is free and easy, you should really do it as Wikipedia is a great ressource, even if they end up deleting me!)
It’s actually a fascinating look into participatory editing. There seems to be about three camps: one is saying delete, the other is saying keep and the third one is saying userfy, which means (from what I’m understanding) put this page under the name of the wikipedia user. That last one confuses me as it adds no value. It’s not often you get to read about yourself in such a way and it’s pretty interesting (and somewhat telling) to see how this stuff breaks out.
Update:
Looks like it survived the vote for deletion… Thanks to all who helped.
