Nice job on the NPR radio show...
I didn't realize you were going to be on.

It was a real shock listening to your voice and wondering.. "Wow that sounds like Tristan..."

"Welcome to world of the real...."

People can be Loving, Hateful, Conforting, Damaging and so one.
Online or offline really makes no difference other then the ability to reach to a larger number of other people via the net.

Welcome to the human condition.

I think the threats were the straw that broke the camel's back. The misogyny is palpable, including in the rarified airs of the A list. The mob hates hypocrisy more than it hates death threats or misogyny. The A List has been telling us how things should be for years now. It turns out they have a log in their own eye. I say light the torches.

If the death threats are legitimate, or something to be concerned about, I would like to think the lady contacted the authorities. It would be nice to know what actually started the problem in the first place. In a way it's kind of funny that people take blogging so seriously that they post death threats. Kind of like "Nerds Gone Wild" or something.

Hopefully, it'll all get straightened out.

<!--%kramer-pre%-->(predating the offenses) with the offending sites. Don Park has posted a copy of a MeanKids post about Maryam Scoble that crossed from mean to cruel and beyond even that. Scoble is right to be sickened and angry, as is Maryam. I'll point to Tristan Louis, Ronni Bennett (with a response by Kathy) Dave Winer, Mary Hodder, AKMA, Mitch Ratcliffe and TechMeme for a few windows into the mess. At this point there are too many to count, each colored in its own way. There's a vast and growing mosaic of opinion<!--%kramer-post%-->

<!--%kramer-pre%-->the impact of information architecture, how humans treat each other digitally, the possibilities and risks of collective action, the limits of censorship and free speech. What have we learned? Feeding the media frenzy. When will this vision of the "dark side of the blogosphere" hit the mainstream media? When will the Chronicle, the New York Times, seize upon this developing story as yet another reason to dun the blogosphere, to fear web 2.0, to sigh that yes, this internet thing certainly is and has been vile?<!--%kramer-post%-->

<!--%kramer-pre%--> Tim O’Reilly has had a lot of good ideas. A very smart guy. And what happened to Kathy Sierra (and lot of less famous people) is obscene. But this Blogger Code of Conduct business? Is an enormous waste of time. Does it move anyone to do anything they wouldn’t already? No. Is there anything stopping someone from throwing up one<!--%kramer-post%-->
