Hi again, sorry for late reply.i got busy with others problems.

for me, and many other middle class society(someone who has things todo, such work, life etc) is expecting stable conditions, personally i dont care who's going to do what in the government sector.

but when things like this happens, it affects to our life (small example, demonstration in capital due to bailout-bank century case-). it affecting hundreds of indonesian to late from work, how much we lost from that?

these open internet is misused by several people in elite politics to bomb and push their opinion to the society(remember we have high rates unemployment rate), and lead them to demonstration(even they paid the demonstrators).

it's good if we are having average education level to high school,

some years ago, there's NGO who burned any internet cafe they found due to leaked porn things; even the police said that they will investigate the case. in their opinion is internet=porn.

whats the relation from internet cafe with the porn site? we have different definition about internet with the NGO i guess ;)

But this makes exactly the case FOR an open internet. The information about corruption is a good thing and using the internet to spread would only improve democracy, don't you think?

this is one of the examples

http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/1999/06/11/our-attorney-general.html
someone release the transcript in the mailing list and it spread out few hours later. this lead to the president's impeachment.

the transcription is about president direction to some law case happens in indonesia.

the people here are easily burned by political, social and religions issues;. same things happens in neighboring countries (malaysia and singapore).

they are censoring(however, indonesia is not censoring the internet, except porn and gambling site) their internet in order to keep public safe.
and... same things happens in china.

i believe if they practices open internet could lead to public riot though...

the culture is just different, but i still support that internet should be transparent and neutral.

Abdurahman,

An interesting perspective. What kind of bad things happen due to leaked documents? And would government or corporate control of the internet really make those things not happen, make things better, or make them worse? You bring a different angle to this and I'd love to know more.

Hi,

I think open internet is good for private sector. However it could be dangerous for public safety. I'm living in south east asia country and bad things happen due to leaked documents.

what im trying to say is. the rule(open internet) might happen in america, but it could be dangerous to general safety in certain country(like my place)
