Defining the strategy for next-generation internet products in the transaction banking space for one of the largest financial firms in the world.

Vice President, Applied Innovation, HSBC.com(2001-2007)

I was in charge of the management for the Applied Innovation in the Internet unit of one of the largest financial firms in the world. For that role, I worked with stakeholders around the world to identify new technologies and products that could give the organization a competitive advantage, create new products based on new technology and technology markets, and define the technology strategy of the group.
In a previous role in the organization as VP of application development, I was responsible for all global Intranet, Extranet and Internet content management and search-related efforts, coordinating development teams in the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Canada, and India.
Working with local stakeholders and country-specific architecture boards, I am responsible for establishing best practices and standards on SEO, CMS, UI, accessibility, non-browser platforms, and deployment. Under this umbrella, my team provides domain expertise in a wide number of areas and helps shape the global e-channel product strategy for all members of the group.
Accomplishments in the content management arena include:
- Relaunch of a number of sites on a centralized platform
- Creation of a new set of tools to allow manipulation of banking tools based on business units and user preference
- Creation of an internal program used to build complex relationships and navigational systems through WYSIWYG interfaces
- Establishment of clear coding procedures and best practices
- Development and rollout of an international system for personal, business, and institutional internet banking
Accomplishments in the search space include
- Development and rollout of a global intranet search platform servicing over 300,000 internal employees across hundreds of intranet sites
- Development and rollout of a centralized search capability providing search to hundreds of Internet facing sites through an innovative SOA search platform
- Development and rollout of search capabilities for call center operations in several countries

Managing Partner, Moveable Media (2000-2001)

Moveable Media was created in January 2000 to provide Internet and technology strategy consulting services to Fortune 1000 companies. Significant clients included Coca-Cola, Microsoft, AOL Time-Warner, and Nokia.
Worked with C-level executives at client-partners to defnine the impact of technology on their strategy and help them shape their overall IT an E-strategy.
Significant accomplishments included presentation of a complete technology strategy for Coca-Cola, integration between AOL and Time-Warner, involvement in the development of set top boxes for Nokia.

Senior advisor to the CEO (consulting), Boo.com (1999-2000)

I lent my Internet expertise to this new startup, working as interim CTO and back-end architect for the company.
During my tenure there, Boo fixed its back-end system, managed to launch a site that seemed unlaunchable within 10 weeks of my arrival due to strong project management. However, I was not able to convince the CEO that the front end needed to be redone.
I was also instrumental in hiring a new CTO for the company and working on general technology strategy.

Director of Marketing and Strategy, Net Quotient Consulting Group (1998-1999)

Overseeing of all marketing and communications strategies for the company.
Development of two brand identities: one for Metaphoria, our software product group, and one for our consulting services.
Development of multiple direct marketing campaigns to promote our products and services.
Redesign of the company's online presence and of its complete image.
I was instrumental in the launch of Metaphoria DTS 1.1 at JavaOne and the subsequent spinoff of the company from its parent.
Helped rewrite business plan and prepare the company for sale. The Metaphoria unit was sold to Information Architects, and the consulting unit was sold to The Formula Group.

General Manager - Online properties, Earthweb (1997-1998)

Responsible for advertising rates, marketing, positioning, partnerships and long term strategy. Among some of the partnerships I was directly responsible for are Developer.com's relationships with Netscape, Microsoft, Sun, and IBM.
Development of new business model merging electronic commerce and editorial content.
Responsible for the company's acquisition strategy.

Executive Director of Development and General Manager, internet.com (1995-1997)

Turned around company's reputation in the online world through creation, from the ground up, of one of the top web sites on the Internet.
Pioneered concept of licensing online content to other sites and offline media.
Developed equations to calculate cost of acquisition of online resources and return on investment.
Responsible for all decisions including budgeting , advertising rates, editorial direction, technological investments.
Recruited and managed a staff of 45 people, including development team and national sales force.
Handled all communications with other Mecklermedia divisions (magazines and trade shows).
Had full P&L responsibilities for the site, and managed to bring it to profitability.

Online Liaison, Internet World (1995-1995)

Reorganized CompuServe forum held by the magazine, increasing revenue by 1000%
Launched web site for the magazine, creating original content for the web.
Reported on late breaking news and worked with editor-in-chief to reduce delays in breaking news.
Wrote one of the most popular columns for the magazine (according to reader's survey)
Due to my success in this job, Alan Meckler, the CEO of the company, put me in charge of the web operations (internet.com)

Webmaster, Your Personal Network, and Research Editor, Michael Wolff & Co. (1994-1995)

Created new online business unit, based on content from best-selling Net.Books Series
Handled all aspects of technical development of Your Personal Network (YPN), which became one of the top sites on the web during my tenure.
Wrote web site reviews for Net.Money, Net.Sports, Net.Trek, and Net.Tech
Developed chapter by chapter outline for Net.Tech.

EDI Coordinator, Turner Broadcasting Sales Inc. (1994- 1994)

Helped develop Electronic Data Infrastructure for international advertising sales office.
Participated in committees to develop industry-wide standards for exchanging advertising sales information.
Set-up partnerships with advertising agencies on data exchange.
